    A global biopharmaceutical company — already well positioned in oncology — was preparing to launch an exciting new product targeting a niche market with substantial unmet need. The company requested that Clarion manage the launch process and provide project management support to align the company’s launch strategy, planning, and execution, and position the company for a powerful launch.

    Clarion drove the development and implementation of a governance model to help guide the organization through the launch and commercialization process. This model allowed the organization to anticipate and address the full range of challenges and activities involved in the product launch, and to identify the most effective ways to address and execute them.

    Clarion initiated a process that worked with the client’s organizational structure. We began by helping design and convene an executive Steering Committee to provide oversight, make key decisions, address obstacles and allocate resources across the oncology organization. We deputized sub-teams to manage and drive tactical execution of a range of activities associated with launch planning. And we helped create core teams to test recommendations, ensure cross-functional and cross-team integration, share learnings and develop solutions. These structures ensured that individuals at all appropriate levels and across relevant dimensions in the organization were involved in key decisions and activities.

    Working with and across all levels of the organization, Clarion helped develop a Launch Roadmap as a resource to give all team members a clear view of both the big picture and individual responsibilities, and to create transparency around how the teams and functions were interrelated.

    Clarion’s support also led the team to identify several critical gaps in their launch strategy, causing the client to rethink and redirect several key efforts. Based on our work, the client shifted their launch strategy to include a stronger focus on institutions. Clarion is currently working with the client to refine this focus, further identifying the target audience and crafting the approach to the institutional market.
